Faced with the challenge of building a parade float for the local Flower Festival with no prior experience, the author and a dedicated crew transformed a flatbed truck into an underwater reef and pirate ship. Using lawn chairs, cardboard, wire, blue cloth, and fresh flowers provided by the Freguesia, the team worked late into the nights to prepare the float, even receiving a supportive visit from the Mayor of Ribeirinha. On parade day, a lively crew of 6 Portuguese locals and two expats brought the float to life with incredible energy, music, and playful crowd interaction. Beyond the success of the event, the collaborative experience marked a meaningful milestone for the author, bringing a deep sense of belonging and true integration into the Azorean community after two years on the island.
After returning to the Azores from the US, Tiger founded Piratas e Sereias de São Miguel, a local pirate and mermaid group. Starting with just six people at the first meeting, the group quickly grew to nine members by the second meeting and caught the attention of local event organizers. Despite some funny logistics—like figuring out how mermaids in tails could participate in a parade—the group successfully booked three major local events: the Medieval Fair (July), the Flower Festival, and the Ribeirinha annual celebration and parade (August).
On May 7th, against the vibrant backdrop of Lisbon, Tiger joined a global community of innovators and world-travelers at the Global Expat Summit 2026. In a focused, high-impact five-minute talk, Tiger introduced the audience to his concept of "Plan B: Escaping the US Current." He spoke candidly about the shifting landscape in the States and why he chose the serene, lush environment of the Azores as his primary base for the future.
I didn’t set out to become an author, but life—much like the sea—has a way of shifting your course. On this fine May 1st morning, I’m thrilled to announce the official release of the e-book version of Longevity Habit. This book isn't just a collection of health tips; it’s a manifesto for a new way of living. It’s about building a community of like-minded, active solo seniors dedicated to living long, vibrant lives together.
In the high-stakes world of longevity, the stage is usually crowded with MDs, PhDs, and epidemiologists. We are used to hearing from the "experts," but we rarely hear from the "experiments"—the regular humans with a story to tell. This is where Bryan Johnson and I, Tiger Lee, find ourselves on common ground.
Why do New Year's promises, born of such good intention, almost always fail? The answer lies not in a lack of willpower, but in a fundamental misunderstanding of how habits—especially Longevity Habits—actually form. We cover the three critical traps that doom most New Year's Resolutions, and how to start building a life that lasts instead.
